Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Welcomes Elite 2026 Center Chamiah Francis for Official Visit

OXFORD, Miss. — One of the most coveted high school girls basketball prospects in the country is visiting Ole Miss beginning today. Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin and the Rebels are hosting 2026 nationally-ranked Chamiah Francis on an official visit. Francis is a 6-3 center out of Booker T. Washington High School in Pensacola, Fla.

In addition to Ole Miss, she holds offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Duke, North Carolina Florida State and others.

She is rated as the country’s No. 25 player overall, the No. 3 center and the No. 2 talent in the state of Florida’s 2026 class, so her presence would be huge for Ole Miss.

During the 2024-2025 season, Francis averaged a double-double, 14.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game for the Lady Wildcats. She recorded 10 double-doubles in 20 games played while shooting 47% from the field.

Francis spoke with On3’s Talia Goodman earlier this year on what appeals to her about Ole Miss.

What drew me towards Ole Miss was their pride in defense. I turned the TV on, and Ole Miss was on, and I couldn’t turn it off. It was hype. It was good. It was just nice to see at least one college that’s interested in me, taking a lot of pride in defense, and they just want to go, go, go, push the gas. They kind of play similar to my high school, and I like the coaches.”

Brandon Clay, Director of Scouting for Women’s Basketball for 247Sports, has this to say about Francis:

Francis has had a strong 12-month run since the NCAA Basketball Academy in Memphis last July. She possesses legitimate high-major college size and athleticism. Francis is playing her way into the discussion among the top frontcourt prospects in the class, as she is a force to be reckoned with inside the lane. Her ability to make things happen with her activity around the rim for the Miami Suns kept them in striking distance in both of their games.
