Ole Miss Wide Receiver Harrison Wallace III Stepping Up in Rebels’ Offense

LEXINGTON, Ky. — It was a tough afternoon in Lexington for Ole Miss football Saturday, but the Rebels came away with a solid road win against Kentucky, 30-23. There were several standout players on the team, but on offense, it’s hard to look past two players. Running back Kewan Lacy and wide receiver Harrison Wallace III both notched their second consecutive 100-yard games and each made some critical big-time plays.
One play in particular, between quarterback Austin Simmons and Wallace early in the second quarter when Ole Miss was in a difficult spot, turned the momentum of the game.
The Ole Miss offense lined up on its own 44-yard line, 4th and 1, trailing by 10 points. Despite it being just the second quarter, it felt like a must-win to swing the momentum. If they don’t convert, the Rebels would find themselves, down 10 points, with Kentucky owning the ball and good field position.
But up stepped Wallace, who caught a Simmons pass, spun out of a tackle, and took the ball down to the Kentucky 1-yard line.

“You know, it’s a play we practice all the time in practice just for whenever it comes up. So once we saw the look, I kind of had a feeling the ball was coming my way.“

All Wallace is wanting to do is help his team, and that is precisely what he did in that moment, finishing with 117 yards on 4 receptions.
“I definitely feel like that was a swing of momentum, you know. But, (I’m) just always just trying to make a play for the team.“

When Tre Harris, Juice Wells, and Jordan Watkins left for the NFL after the 2024 season, the Rebels looked to the transfer portal for production. Wallace, a former Nittany Lion, has taken on the role of top receiver, helping his team and boosting his NFL draft stock in the process.
