
Ole Miss moves up one spot in Coaches Poll after win over Georgia State

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss checks in at No. 14 in the US LBM Coaches Poll released September 2, moving up a spot from No. 15 after steamrolling Georgia State, 63–7, in the season opener.
Redshirt sophomore quarterback Austin Simmons had a strong debut as QB1 in Oxford. After shaking off two early interceptions, Simmons settled in and showed why there’s so much buzz around him, finishing with 341 yards passing and three touchdowns.
With the Rebels sitting at 1–0, the focus now shifts to SEC play. Ole Miss heads to Lexington for a Week 2 showdown with Kentucky, a rematch of last year’s disappointing loss inside Vaught-Hemingway. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC. The Wildcats also come in at 1–0 after defeating Toledo, 24–16, in their opener.
