Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss Flip Elite 2026 CB Dorian Barney From Michigan

OXFORD, Miss. — After the Rebels’ impressive showdown against LSU, they closed out a huge weekend with a flip on the recruiting front. On Sunday evening, news broke that Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have successfully flipped four-star cornerback Dorian Barney from his commitment to Michigan.

After a standout visit to the Velvet Ditch this weekend, Barney has chosen to bring his talents to Lane Kiffin and the No. 4 Rebels.

Ranked as the No. 22 cornerback in the 2026 class and No. 26 athlete emerging from the state of Georgia, the 6-foot-1, 180-pound standout hails from powerhouse Carrollton High School.

With over 50 offers prior to his initial commitment to the Big Ten, it’s clear that Barney is a highly sought-after prospect. Now, he’s ready to take on new challenges in the SEC as he joins an already-strong recruiting class for Kiffin, which now boasts 19 commits in 2026.

Fit in the ‘Sip: What Barney Brings to Ole Miss

Barney possesses a remarkable athletic repertoire that translates seamlessly onto both the football field and basketball court. His versatility will undoubtedly elevate Ole Miss’s secondary play in numerous ways.

Instincts That Disrupt:

Barney’s instincts can dismantle opposing plays in an instant—especially when it comes to intercepting screens. He is relentless in pursuing big plays and has a knack for making game-changing interceptions.

His sixth sense on the field is extraordinary; he seems to intuitively know what quarterbacks are planning and possesses explosive speed that allows him to break on passes with precision. His man-to-man coverage skills are exceptional—he mirrors opponents flawlessly and quickly dissects their strategies.

When tracking deep balls, Barney’s internal radar kicks into high gear. Just when you think he won’t make it in time, his closing speed accelerates dramatically.

Not only is he fast, but he’s also incredibly physical. His commitment to tackling makes him tough for receivers to get through. Playing low and refusing to back down ensures he remains tough in matchups. While there are still areas for improvement, Barney already showcases elite corner skills that position him as an early impact player for Ole Miss.

Welcome home, Dorian! The Rebels are gearing up during this bye week before they host Washington State at home in two weeks.
