Lane Kiffin credits team in dominating win over Tulane, acknowledges challenge of LSU

Oxford, Miss. – Earlier this evening, Lane Kiffin took questions on his weekly Zoom call following an impressive 45-10 win over Tulane.
Having spent their time in two nail-biting SEC games during the weeks prior, Kiffin told the media he had tasked the Rebels with playing their most complete game of the year. In doing so, Ole Miss recorded five touchdowns, an interception, and over 500 yards of total offense.
“Really complete game… they have good players and give people problems. I’m pleased with how our guys performed. I asked them to play their most complete game of the year, and they responded and did that.”

In addition to the influx of offensive production, the Rebs took a major step forward, allowing their first touchdown of the game late in the first quarter. While Kiffin acknowledged their progress, he also touched on the looming threat of LSU, who present a much larger task at hand.
“We played much better on defense in general… but now we have to ramp it up more. This will be the best collection of athletes we’ve played by far.”

Heading into Oxford next Saturday, the No. 4 Tigers will present a wide variety of problems, including the return of their starting quarterback, Garrett Nussmeier.

The veteran has tallied nearly 1,000 passing yards and six touchdowns in LSU’s first four games. Having dealt with him last season, Lane discussed the potential problems that Garrett will present in Vaught-Hemingway.
“He has a really quick release, and he gets out of trouble a lot. He moves around really well in the pocket… I think he’s a really great player.”
