Former Ole Miss Star Madison Scott Signs with Washington Mystics

OXFORD, Miss. — Madison Scott is headed to the nation’s capital. The former Ole Miss women’s basketball standout has signed a season-long contract with the Washington Mystics, the franchise announced Thursday.

Scott became the third Rebel drafted during the Yolett McPhee-McCuin era when she was selected 14th overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings.

We spoke with Madison’s former Ole Miss coach for her thoughts on the signing.

After Madi got the news that she was no longer going to be with Dallas, she immediately got in the gym. Worked on her craft and stayed ready. To me, that’s a pro mentality and she will have a long career in the W because of her will to work!

Since joining the league, she has already seen minutes in five games, tallying 10 points in 25 minutes of action as she works to carve out her role at the professional level.

Before making her mark in the WNBA, Scott left behind a decorated five-year career in Oxford. Known for her consistency and relentless motor, she became one of the SEC’s most exciting players. In her final season, she scored in double figures in a team-leading 21 games, averaging 11.8 points and 3.7 assists per contest — both tops on the Rebel roster.

Scott also cemented her place in program history, becoming just the fourth player ever at Ole Miss to surpass 1,600 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.

Her achievements didn’t go unnoticed. She was named to the 2025 All-SEC Second Team — her seventh career conference honor — earned WBCA Honorable Mention All-America recognition, and took home the 2025 Gillom Trophy, awarded to the best women’s basketball player in the state of Mississippi.

Now, Scott takes the next step in her basketball journey with the Mystics, bringing her grit, leadership, and Rebel pedigree to the WNBA.
