Deuce Alexander, Trinidad Chambliss Building Explosive Chemistry for Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. — It was a fabulous performance on both sides of the ball for Ole Miss football Saturday as the Rebels beat Tulane 45-10 at the Vaught in week four.

Wide receiver Deuce Alexander had another productive game as the team’s top receiver with 94 receiving yards and a touchdown. He has formed a solid partnership with transfer quarterback Trinidad Chambliss over the past two games, which in turn is helping the Rebels’ offense.

Deuce Alexander Ready for Either QB

After his excellent performance against the Green Wave, Alexander spoke with media. The Wake Forest transfer was asked if he needed to make any adjustments based on Chambliss serving as QB instead of Austin Simmons. The confident Alexander said he was ready, whoever was throwing the ball.

Honestly, there hasn’t been much change because I’ve done so much work with both of them. I could adjust very well, very quickly. If either one starts, I feel like it will be okay.

Examining the statistics reveals there has been no drop-off with Chambliss at the helm. The two games he has started have not been against bad teams. First came an SEC matchup against Arkansas, and then the win over Tulane.

Alexander was confident Chambliss was ready to step up for the injured Simmons.

“Yeah, it’s definitely very impressive,” said Alexander.

But in Division II level, he took them (Ferris State) to a national championship. So I knew he was ready for the big moments. Never going to be too big for him, but it’s definitely impressive though.”

Get the Ball in Alexander’s Hands

The touchdown against Tulane was his first of the season, but he has already put up excellent numbers. In receiving yards, he sits at 249 yards and has also rushed for 68 yards. Alexander knows what he can do if the Rebels get him the ball on different schemes, and that’s what the staff told him when he was looking to transfer.

They (coaches) told me when they watched my tape, they could tell I’m one of those guys to get the ball in my hands. I could do a lot with it, like special team value and stuff like that.

Alexander and the Ole Miss offense will come up against their roughest match-up to date next weekend as they face the No. 4- Lanked LSU Tigers at the Vaught.
