A Visit with Ole Miss QB Commit Rees Wise as he Prepares for LSU Weekend in Oxford

OXFORD, Miss. — Back in April, Austin (Texas) Westlake QB Rees Wise committed to Lane Kiffin and the Rebels. The 6-foot-2, 218-pound Wise chose Ole Miss over offers from A&M, Nebraska, TCU, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Baylor, SMU and others.

He will be in Oxford this weekend when the Rebels host LSU Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway. We caught up with Wise and talked to him about the win over Tulane and the upcoming game against the Tigers.

Reflecting on Rebels’ win over Tulane

When asked about Ole Miss’ win against Tulane, Wise expressed enthusiasm for Lane Kiffin’s offense:

The Rebs just kept pushing the tempo and showing why that offense is different—fast, aggressive, explosive; it’s exactly the kind of system a QB wants to be in! Our defense came up clutch too; playing offense becomes easier when your D puts you in good situations.

On Anticipation for LSU Weekend

Wise can hardly contain his excitement as he prepares for his visit to Oxford. “I’m very excited to get up to Oxford for the LSU game! he said. “Watching that Tulane win made me even more eager to throw on that red & blue and go to work. Hotty Toddy!!”

Taking it all in

This time around, Wise plans to soak up every moment as a fan.

“I’m really looking forward to being there as a fan. As a player, you don’t get many chances like this! he explained.

I want to take it all in—the Grove, tailgating, and that electric atmosphere at the stadium. I’ll have family, friends, and my QB coach with me; it should be a blast!

Why Ole Miss?

So what makes Ole Miss the perfect fit for Wise?

The move just fits me perfectly. The coaches’ development and support have been everything I wanted. I’m very excited!
