Ole Miss Veteran RB Logan Diggs Breaks Down What Makes Freshman Shekai Mills-Knight Special

OXFORD, Miss. — The Ole Miss Rebels running back room has been a hot topic throughout spring and into fall camp. The room has plenty of bodies, all offering something a little different.
True freshman Shekai Mills-Knight joins seniors Logan Diggs, Domonique Thomas, and Damien Taylor, as well as sophomore Kewan Lacy for the 2025 season, with many extremely high on what he brings to the RB room. Mills-Knight was a four-star recruit was ranked the No. 6 running back per 247Sports.
Diggs is at the other end of his college football career, with this being his final season. The former LSU Tigers back is impressed with what he sees from the young Mills-Knight. Speaking at Ole Miss Football Media Day earlier this week, Diggs discussed the work the freshman is putting in.
“Ultimately, I feel he has picked up on a lot of information. He spends a lot of extra time with Coach Smith, asking me, Domonique (Thomas), and Kewan (Lacy) about what he needs to do better to get better.”

It would not be a surprise for Mills-Knight to see the field in 2025, despite plenty of senior guys in front of him on the depth chart. In the recent past, Quinshon Judkins, a first-year back for Lane Kiffin, exploded onto the scene, and Mills-Knight certainly has the build and talent to do something similar.
Diggs described what makes the Canadian native and former Baylor School (Tennessee) star stand out.
“What makes him special is that size, speed ratio. You know, he’s 6-foot-1, 6-foot-2, almost 220 pounds, but he ran 10.5 or 10.6 in high school. He is extremely powerful, but at the same time extremely fast, which makes him hard to tackle.“

As for Diggs, he transferred to Ole Miss during the 2024 offseason, but came in with a knee injury suffered in the Tigers’ bowl game that required surgery. It ruled him out all of last season until the Gator Bowl against Duke, where he recorded a handful of snaps. The versatile back has confirmed he is ready to go this season.
