BOOM! Donte Moncrief Returns to Oxford

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss just added a familiar name to Lane Kiffin’s staff, as former Rebels standout wide receiver Donte Moncrief has joined the program in a player personnel role.
Moncrief’s Rebel Legacy
Moncrief was a fan favorite in Oxford from 2011-2013, hauling in 156 catches for 2,371 yards and 20 touchdowns during his Ole Miss playing career. His electric ability on the perimeter helped spark a resurgence in Rebel football, and his knack for the big play made him a constant threat in SEC competition.
After leaving Oxford, Moncrief was selected in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Over seven years in the league, he played in 83 games for five franchises, collecting 205 receptions for 2,576 yards and 21 touchdowns before retiring after a stint with the Patriots in 2020.
What the Hire Means for Ole Miss
This marks the first time Moncrief has held an on-field or staff role in collegiate football. His move to the player personnel department demonstrates Lane Kiffin’s ongoing commitment to blending proven SEC talent and unique Rebel tradition on his staff.
For current and future players, Moncrief offers invaluable insight from someone who’s played—and succeeded—at the highest levels. His experience as a Rebel and as an NFL veteran gives him instant credibility with recruits and current team members alike.
Closing Thoughts
Moncrief’s return isn’t just a homecoming; it’s an investment in the Rebel culture. He knows what it means to wear the Ole Miss uniform, and that connection will help inspire the next generation in Oxford. Rebel Nation can expect Moncrief to immediately embody the program’s core values and help Lane Kiffin’s staff continue making Ole Miss a competitive force in the SEC.
