As we close out July and the recruiting dead period fades, Lane Kiffin and the Rebels scored a major win in Georgia Friday with the commitment of highly sought-after 2026 safety Nascar McCoy. With over 40 offers, this 6-foot-2, 180-pound standout from Buford HS—ranked as the No. 37 safety in the nation—chose Ole Miss over other heavyweights like Georgia, Michigan, Miami, and Texas A&M.
We’ve had our eyes on McCoy multiple times at Buford and during OT7 Circuit with CIN and SFE. We can tell you this player is a game-changer. While he’s labeled as a safety, his versatility means he can also lock down as a corner.

Fit in the Sip
It’s no surprise McCoy earned the nickname “NASCAR.” He owns an ability to keep up with even the quickest opponents, and he mirrors their movements effortlessly. He’s a true ball hawk who consistently disrupts plays both in coverage and against the run.
Having speed is one thing; mastering it with smooth control is another level entirely. McCoy has nailed that balance perfectly; his sideline-to-sideline speed is impressive, complete with fluid turns and explosive breaks. I’ve seen him perform in various environments, and each time he has shown growth that leaves me convinced Ole Miss has snagged another hidden gem with incredible potential.
The Rebels went right into Bulldogs territory and came back with one heck of a talent from one of the nation’s top prep programs. We will be back to catch McCoy as he opens up the season on August 14th against the Milton Eagles!
