Ole Miss Makes Move for Elite 2027 Tight End Grant Haviland

OXFORD, Miss. — As we embarked on our high school football tour last Fall at Milton High School in Milton, Georgia, anticipation filled the air. The field was alive with talent, but one name stood out among the crowd early on: Grant Haviland. This rising tight end from Milton has quickly captured the attention of colleges across the nation, including Ole Miss.

Under the guidance of head coach Ben Reaves and his staff, Milton has transformed into one of the premier high school football programs in the country. Their commitment to cultivating talent is evident, especially when it comes to developing their tight ends. Haviland may not have been a starter at that moment, but his skills were undeniable—an emerging star just waiting for his chance to shine.

An exceptional tight end

At 6-foot-5 and weighing 225 pounds, Grant Haviland is not just another player; he’s a dynamic force ready to disrupt defenses. Whether lining up as an in-line tight end or stretching the field as a wide receiver, his versatility is remarkable. He combines strength with finesse—showcasing impressive blocking skills while also being a reliable target for quarterbacks.

What sets Haviland apart is not only his physical attributes but also his game-changing potential. His route running is sharp, and his hands are reliable enough to snag passes even in traffic. He possesses an innate ability to break free from defenders—a trait that can turn a routine play into a highlight-reel moment.

 The Rebels enter the race

Tuesday, Ole Miss extended an offer to Haviland, igniting excitement among fans and coaches alike.

I was extremely excited and humbled to receive the offer.”

With Ole Miss’s rich history of success at the tight end position, this opportunity feels like a perfect match for him.

The competition is fierce; many SEC programs are vying for this talented athlete’s commitment. Yet, what makes Ole Miss stand out to Haviland? “The interactions I’ve had with Coach Cox so far have been very positive,” he noted enthusiastically. As he prepares for upcoming visits—including stops at Michigan and Florida—he remains focused on building relationships that matter most.

 What does Haviland seek?

As Grant navigates through recruiting season, he’s clear about what he wants in a future program:

I’m looking for a program with a great culture, a tradition of winning, coaches who coach hard, and one that utilizes tight ends in many ways.

These criteria reflect not only his aspirations as an athlete but also his desire to grow within a supportive environment.

Haviland’s summer schedule is packed; having recently attended camp at Clemson and preparing for visits to South Bend and Penn State shows just how serious he is about finding the right fit. And let’s not forget about Georgia—the home-state team—that will always be part of any conversation surrounding top local talents.

The road ahead

With nearly 30 offers already under his belt and ranked as one of the top tight ends in his class (No. 11 TE nationally according to 247 Sports/ No.1 ESPN ), it’s clear that Grant Haviland’s future shines brightly on the horizon. As he continues to hone his skills during camps and showcases this summer, fans should keep their eyes peeled—this young athlete could soon become a household name in college football.

Whether you’re an Ole Miss supporter or simply love high school football talent-spotting, keep track of Grant Haviland as he navigates this pivotal time in his athletic career. The world will soon see just how impactful this rising star can be—and which program will ultimately land him could shape its offensive strategy over the next few years.

We look forward to kicking off the season  again in Georgia when Milton opens on the road against Buford on ESPN. Kick-off is set for 7PM ET August 14th from Buford.
