PREDICTION: Heading into SEC Title Game, here’s current standing of Ole Miss Baseball in NCAA Tournament

Oxford, Miss. – Following a successful regular season, earning the No. 7 seed at the SEC tournament, Mike Bianco’s Rebels have returned to the championship game for the first time since 2019, when their opponent was also Vanderbilt. In the process, Ole Miss took down a red-hot Florida team, along with nationally ranked Arkansas and LSU.

The Rebels’ RPI has shot up from 16 in RPI to 10 while Vanderbilt holds the No. 1 spot in college baseball. With Vandy’s RPI, even with a loss today the Rebs would easily stay in the top-10 range, and they would take a large step forward if they win.

Even outside of the RPI ranks, Ole Miss has 19 quad-one wins, the most in the entire country.

Through series wins over Florida, Vanderbilt, and Auburn, paired with individual wins against Arizona and Clemson, the Rebs have proven from opening day that they possess the ability to defeat any team in America.

As it stands on the morning of May 25th prior to the SEC Championship Game, three writers from the 11Point7 College Baseball podcast have Ole Miss ranked as the No. 12 seed in the NCAA tournament, with opponents like Southern Miss taking the No. 2 seed of the Oxford regional.

Despite refusing to admit to the Rebels’ success earlier in the week, the D1 Baseball crew has finally ranked Ole Miss as the No. 10 national seed, with TCU taking the No. 2 spot in the regional.

Between having the most quad one wins in the country, a top 10 RPI, and various series wins over top SEC competition, there’s no question that Ole Miss should be a top 10 national seed. At the very least, I can say with confidence that postseason baseball will return to Oxford next weekend.

The NCAA will release the sixteen Regional hosts tonight following the conclusion of the conference championship games, with the remainder of the bracket being revealed tomorrow morning.
