Ole Miss baseball drops one spot in this week’s D1 Baseball Rankings, five spots in Baseball America poll

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss baseball dropped one spot, to No. 24, in this week’s D1 Baseball Top 25. The Rebels fell five spots in Baseball America’s rankings to No. 18.

For week 12 last week, Ole Miss defeated Austin Peay at home at Swayze before going on the road to play Oklahoma in Norman for a weekend series.

The Rebels lost the series to the Sooners; however, they did take game three, 7-3, on Sunday. This coming weekend, Ole Miss travels to Starkville to play Mississippi State in yet another pivotal series with possible postseason hosting ramifications on the line.

Of Ole Miss, Baseball America writes:

Ole Miss dropped its second SEC series in the last three weekends, falling twice on the road to Oklahoma even despite a bounceback win Sunday in Norman. The Rebels are now tied with Tennessee for the second-worst weekend series record among top 18 teams (8-4) and slipped to No. 17 in RPI, casting doubt on their hosting hopes. Ole Miss continues to navigate a tricky back half of its schedule and now faces another major road test at rival Mississippi State, which has shown signs of new life since parting ways with Chris Lemonis.”
