Over the course of her last three seasons with the Bulldogs, Powe, a Meridian, Miss. native, started 98 of 99 career games. She averaged 8.4 points per game last season and announced her commitment to Coach Yo with an Instagram post on April 15.
“Trusting the next chapter because I know the author,” Powe wrote.
In a post on X, Coach Yo reiterated why Powe is a great fit with Ole Miss.
“Debreasha represents all that’s right about the state of Mississippi. She’s a leader, a person of great faith, and has phenomenal support from her family and people in the state. She’s one of Mississippi’s own who is a winner on and off the court and will fit well with the standards and values of the program and the Ole Miss way. I recruited Debreasha out of high school, and I am overjoyed she gets to spend her last year with us here in Oxford as part of our Ole Miss family.”

Throughout the last two seasons, Powe showed prowess in her perimeter shooting, hitting 134 three-pointers.
We had a chance to visit with Powe about her commitment and why she is now a Rebel.
“I chose Ole Miss and Coach Yo because I believe in the vision she’s built here. This program is going to challenge me, grow me, and stretch me in every way. I want to be great—and I know that greatness is exactly what Coach Yo expects and builds.”
Debreasha Powe on why she is now a Rebel
Coach Yo is known for pushing her players and helping them achieve their goals. She just had her third player drafted in the WNBA, as Madison Scott was selected by the Dallas Wings in Monday’s draft. Powe has aspirations, herself, ones she believes the Ole Miss head coach can help her reach.
“My goal has always been to play this game at the highest level. I truly believe God placed that dream in my heart, and I know Coach Yo shares that same passion and purpose. She believes in me, and she lives out the ‘No Ceilings’ mindset. With her guidance and God’s favor, I know I’ll be pushed, challenged, and prepared to walk in my calling.”

In visiting with Powe, it’s clear she will fit right in to the culture that Coach Yo and her staff have built in Oxford, both on the court and off it, through hard work, commitment and passion for the game.
We asked Powe what her future plans include outside of basketball.
“Off the court, I feel led to pursue a career as a sports analyst. I believe Ole Miss is where God wants me in this season—not just to grow as a player, but to step into every opportunity He’s laid out for me. With Coach Yo’s support and God leading the way, I’m ready to chase both dreams with confidence.”
Powe is the sixth transfer commit for the Rebels, joining Cotie McMahon (Ohio State), Latasha Lattimore (Virginia), Jayla Murray (Wichita State), Kaitlin Peterson (UCF) and Tianna Thompson (Georgia Tech). Click on their names to learn more about each.
