OXFORD — Ole Miss football continues to address a big area of need, defensive backs, as Lane Kiffin and the Rebels picked up a commitment Saturday from South Alabama transfer portal cornerback Ricky Fletcher.
Fletcher has been on campus this weekend for a visit.
A Mississippi native, Fletcher played for Holmes County High School where he was a three-sport star, competing in both basketball and track and field in addition to football.
The 6-foot-3, 198-pounder entered the portal this past Wednesday upon its opening and quickly had a visit set up to Ole Miss.
After suffering an injury last season, Fletcher did not play for South Alabama in 2024. In 2023, he tallied 38 tackles, 26 of which were solo tackles, broke up 12 passes on the year from his defensive back position and hurried the quarterback once on the year. He also notched a fumble recovery, His freshman season was 2022 and he recorded appearances in 13 games.
Fletcher joins another defensive back who committed to Ole Miss this week, Tavoy Feagin, a transfer from Clemson.
