
Chris Beard, Ole Miss land first portal commit in talented LSU transfer forward

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard and the Rebels have landed the team’s first transfer portal commitment, Corey Chest from LSU. The talented forward announced his pledge to Ole Miss via social media on Sunday.

Chest, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound redshirt freshman, averaged 6.1 points per game, 6.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game with the Tigers. He shot 60.7 percent from the field and made 26 appearances with 19 starts for LSU in 2024.
The New Orleans native played three years of high school basketball in his home state and then moved to Branson, Missouri to play for Link Academy, a top prep school.
A slashing forward, Chest thrives at the rim. LSU’s leader in rebounding, he also provides impact as an athletic rim protector and fits the mold of a switchable big who can get out and run in transition. was recruited by Ole Miss coming out of his high school class.
The talented rebounder, who redshirted the 2023-24 season, had received much interest from Texas A&M and Alabama whom he also visited. Last week, Chest visited Ole Miss, per his social media and other sources, and enjoyed what he saw in Oxford.
Against the Rebels on February 8, Chest notched 12 rebounds — and 18 when the Tigers played Alabama on Jan. 25.
