Movin’ on up! Ole Miss jumps four spots in this week’s D1 Baseball Poll

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss baseball began the season unranked, but the Rebels have made quick work of rising in the D1 baseball poll and are now sitting at No. 13 in the nation — up four spots from last week.

Speaking of last week, head coach Mike Bianco’s team played four games and came from behind in three of them, showing a lot of fight in the victories.

Ole Miss holds a 14-1 record, with the one loss coming to the Texas Longhorns in the Rebels’ second game of the season Shriners Children’s College Showdown in the opening tournament of the season in Arlington. Since that loss to the Horns, the Rebels are 13-0 with wins over three teams who were ranked in the Top 25: Clemson, Arizona and Southern Miss.

  1. LSU (16-1)
  2. Tennessee (16-0)
  3. Arkansas (15-1)
  4. Georgia (18-1)
  5. Florida State (15-0)
  6. North Carolina (14-2)
  7. Florida (15-2)
  8. Oregon State (10-3)
  9. Oregon (14-2)
  10. Clemson (15-1)
  11. Texas (13-1)
  12. Oklahoma (14-1)
  13. Ole Miss (14-1)
  14. Wake Forest (14-3)
  15. UC Santa Barbara (13-2)
  16. Vanderbilt (13-3)
  17. Alabama (16-1)
  18. Stanford (12-3)
  19. Texas A&M (9-6)
  20. Dallas Baptist (11-4)
  21. Troy (13-3)
  22. Southern Mississippi (11-5)
  23. Virginia (9-5)
  24. Coastal Carolina (12-4)
  25. Auburn (13-3)

Ole Miss opens league action this Friday at Swayze when the No. 3 Arkansas Razorbacks come to Oxford. But, first, they’ll travel to Mobile to take on South Alabama (9-6) on Tuesday, March 11. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT, and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

I think it’s a perfect time for us to get away,” Coach Bianco said Sunday after the Rebels swept Jacksonville State. “We love playing here at Swayze Field but a chance to go on the road and play a really good South (Alabama) team kind of breaks up that midweek challenge. Looking forward to that.
