March Madness | Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Will Pack Its Defense and Head to Waco for First-Round NCAA Action

OXFORD, Miss. – For a fourth consecutive season, the Ole Miss Women’s Basketball team, led by head Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin, is heading to the NCAA Tournament!

Team 50 is the No. 5 seed and will head to Waco to face Ball State out of the Mid-American Conference in first-round action. Should the Rebs win that game, they would face the winner of Baylor vs. Grand Canyon.

The Rebels finished the regular season with a 20-10 record (10-6 in the SEC), securing six quad one victories and making a strong case as one of the top teams in the SEC once again. The Rebels pulled off statement wins against Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State (Twice), and LSU, also proving they can compete with the best in the country.

In the SEC Tournament, Ole Miss made a yet another quarterfinal run, defeating Mississippi State for a second time this season before battling Texas down to the wire in a 70-63 loss.

Many assumed Ole Miss had done enough to host first-round action in Oxford, but that was not to be the case. However, senior Madison Scott says the Rebels will be ready with their defense!

Statistically, Madison Scott has been the senior Coach Yo wanted, leading the team in scoring with 11.9 points per game, while Kennedy Todd-Williams, Starr Jacobs and true freshman Sira Thienou all ending the year in double digits as well. Defensively, Ole Miss has been one of the toughest teams in the SEC. Team 50 finished third in the conference in points allowed per game (58.2) and second in turnovers forced (21.1). Additionally, the Rebels finished top 20 in the country in point differential (+17.4).
