Ole Miss adds Akron, Michigan State transfer running back Jordon Simmons

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss football added Akron transfer running back Jordon Simmons Friday, the second player of the day, joining Auburn transfer offensive tackle Percy Lewis.

Simmons, a 6-foot-2, 192-pounder from Powder Springs, Georgia, began his career at Michigan State and played three years for the Spartans before he ultimately transferred to Akron last year ahead of the 2024 season.

At Michigan State as a freshman in 2020, Simmons led the team in rushing yards with 219. He ranked second in total carries with 56 as he played in five games for the Spartans.

In 2021, his sophomore season, Simmons played in 12 games, starting one, and finished with 70 rushes for 278 yards. He also caught six passes for 22 yards and a touchdown.

Throughout the past four years, Simmons rushed for over 1,100 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Last year with Akron, he tallied 664 yards and two touchdowns.

Simmons joins Missouri transfer Kewan Lacy who has also committed to the Rebels and incoming freshman Shekai Mills-Knight. Ole Miss also looks to have LSU transfer Logan Diggs, who joined Ole Miss ahead of the 2024 season, but who missed most of the season due to a knee injury.
