Former Ole Miss, UCF QB John Rhys Plumlee signed as wide receiver by Seahawks
OXFORD, Miss. — Former Ole Miss and UCF QB John Rhys Plumlee has been signed by the Seattle Seahawks off their practice squad ahead of the team’s season finale against the Rams.
Plumlee, who transferred from Ole Miss to UCF, is playing receiver for the Seahawks, and will have a shot at making his NFL debut on Sunday.
Plumlee signed to Seattle’s practice squad in November and has been working out at receiver since. He initially signed with the Steelers after the draft and spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the Seahawks.
In three seasons at Ole Miss — then followed by two at UCF — Plumlee threw for 5,838 yards and 34 touchdowns. He rushed for 2,557 yards and 28 TDs.
In his two seasons at UCF, Plumlee finished with 4,857 passing yards, 1,367 rushing yards and 35 total touchdowns.
After joining the Steelers, Plumlee was utilized as a receiver and kick returner. The multi-sport star in college also played baseball for both Ole Miss and UCF.
Best of luck to John Rhys!
