Per Bell’s X account, he currently has offers from Kansas, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Baylor and others. In the current On3 transfer portal rankings, Bell is the No. 7th-ranked EDGE prospect.
The 6-foot-2, 255-pound Bell has been one of the most productive defensive ends in the country over his five years at the college level. After starting his career at Louisiana Tech and playing in 13 games over his two seasons in Ruston, Bell followed in his older brother Levi’s footsteps by transferring to Texas State ahead of the 2022 season – approximately just 50 minutes from their hometown of Cedar Park, Texas.
In 2022, Bell played outside linebacker before returning to the defensive line in 2023 where he tallied 57 tackles with 16 tackles for loss and a program-record 10 sacks – breaking Levi’s previous single-season record of eight. Bell was also rated by Pro Football Focus as the second-highest rated edge rusher in the country in PFF pass rush grades while recording a sack in six of his 13 games.
Following the 2023 season, Bell was named All-Sun Belt Second Team.
In his time at Texas State, Bell tallied 126 tackles — including 25 for loss — as well as 18 sacks. In 2024, Bell was injured and appeared in only four games before sitting out to preserve the year’s eligibility.
“Ben Bell looks like he lives north of the wall.”
