OXFORD, Miss. — Grambling State transfer linebacker Andrew Jones was in Oxford for a visit Friday and now has flipped his commitment to South Carolina and will now play for Pete Golding and the Rebels.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker is a coveted prospect, recording over 100 tackles and 20 tackles for loss this past season.
His impressive performances earned him the Southwestern Atlantic Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year award and a spot on the SWAC All-American team.

After starting his career at Memphis in 2021, Jones transferred to Grambling ahead of the 2023 season. He appeared in nine games in 2022, two in 2023 and 10 games in 2024. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
A player out of John Ehret High School in Marrero, La., Jones was the No. 34-ranked linebacker in the class of 2021, and he was rated as a four-star recruit.
Jones began his career at Memphis, appearing in four games as a freshman. Over 10 games in 2022, he had four tackles, including one for loss. He played 72 snaps that season, according to Pro Football Focus.
PFF also reflects that Jones logged more than 800 snaps during his two seasons at Grambling. In 2023, he had 15 total tackles, including three for loss.
Jones, a Marrero, La. native, officially entered the portal Monday and was offered by the Gamecocks on Thursday.
