Ole Miss football set to honor 34 Rebels on Senior Day

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss football is set to honor 34 Rebel football players today on Senior Day in Vaught-Hemingway prior to the Egg Bowl game against Mississippi State.

According to Ole Miss football, here’s the list of players who will be honored:

Eli Acker, Josh Aka, Trey Amos, Ulysses Bentley IV, Julius Buelow, Drew Burnett, Jaxson Dart, Caden Davis, Micah Davis, Chris Hardie, Tre Harris, Salathiel Hemphil, Jeremy James, Nate Kalepo, Fraser Masin, Reece McIntyre, Jack Mills, Louis Moore, Richard O’Bryant, Henry Parrish, Micah Pettus, Josh Pfeiffer, Charlie Pollock, Tavion Prather, Caden Prieskorn, John Saunders, Gerquan Scott, Brandon Turnage, Princely Umanmielen, Caleb Warren, Trey Washington, Jordan Watkins, Calvin Wilson, and Hudson Wolfe.

Earlier this week, head coach Lane Kiffin talked about what these players have meant to him, personally, and to the program.

I’ve never been in a place five years. I’ve never been in a place to have a Senior Day. And I just wanted to make sure that I recognize my appreciation, especially nowadays, where so few players stay, to have these guys in the entire time and to have a Senior Night coming up where they came here with us in the beginning, and now we’ve been here the whole time with them is really neat and special.

Lane Kiffin

Ole Miss is on the cusp of finishing with back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time since 1959 and 1960. If the Rebels (8-3, 4-3 SEC) win the Egg Bowl today, as well as their bowl game, they would mark that achievement following last year’s 11-win season.

And these guys, when I just said the thinking of the 20 wins the last two seasons, these guys, probably historians here would say, probably had the best run in the history of the school for the last 4 or 5 years. So that’s pretty special what they’ve been able to accomplish.

Tom Luke, the Rebels Associate AD for Player Development, himself a former player for Ole Miss, spoke with the team this week on what playing in the Egg Bowl for the Rebels meant to him. Coach Kiffin commented on Luke’s meeting with the team and expressed, again, what these seniors have meant to the program.

“…You’ve got people that have been here the whole time that are playing in their last game. So it hit me again. It kind of hit me last night when Tom Luke was talking to the team and talked about that, about his appreciation for being here a long time and how these guys in this room that have been here for five years have been on the best run in the history of the school and brought in a lot of success here to the program and to the university. So that’s pretty neat to think about those guys and be grateful for those guys, what they’ve done, especially in the world that not many people stay nowadays.”

Ole Miss and Mississippi State kick off at 2:30 p.m. today in Vaught-Hemingway. The game is televised on ABC.

Thank you to these players who have given their blood, sweat and tears to Ole Miss. You will always be remembered. Hotty Toddy!
