Georgia jumped out to an early advantage as the Bulldogs intercepted a pass by Jaxson Dart in a short field. They got on the board on a two-yard carry by Nate Frazier.
Dart got injured on the opening drive, and Austin Simmons came in and looked like a veteran. He was calm and poised and was there when the Rebels needed him. Simmons drove the Rebels down the field, and capped off the series with a nine-yard run by Ulysses Bentley.
Bentley finished the day with 13 touches for 28 yards and a touchdown.
Simmons went 5-for-6 for 64 yards on the drive.
The Rebels’ defense forced Georgia to punt after a three-and-out. Ole Miss then drove down the field with Dart and finished things off with a field goal by Caden Davis. Ole Miss went up 10-7 to close out the quarter.
The Rebels added a field goal by Davis to go up 13-7 over Georgia.
The Ole Miss defense made it difficult for Georgia to move the ball. At that point in the game, the Bulldogs had gained 47 yards total.
Ole Miss got the ball back deep in its own territory as Dart found Jordan Watkins to get down to the Georgia side of the field. Davis ended the drive with a 53-yard field goal to go up 16-7.
Davis finished the game with four field goals.
In the first half, Ole Miss out-gained Georgia 229 total yards to 69 yards.
Georgia kicked a field goal to open the third quarter and cut the game to 16-10.
Ole Miss quickly responded with a touchdown as Dart drove the Rebels down the field and found Juice Wells in the end zone to go up 22-10 over the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs.
Two more Rebel field goals after the defense forced two Georgia turnovers, an interception and a fumble, made it 28-10 and that’s how it ends in Oxford.
Dart finished the game going 13-22 with 199 yards a touchdown and an interception. Beck finished the game going 20-for-36 for 186 yards and 1 interception.
