Ole Miss star wide receiver Tre Harris’ status upgraded to ‘Probable’ for Rebels’ game at LSU
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss football, in accordance with new reporting rules instituted this season by the Southeastern Conference, updated its Availability Report Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. ahead of the Rebels’ Saturday showdown with LSU.
The only changes from Thursday’s report for Ole Miss are that running back Matt Jones has been downgraded to OUT from ‘doubtful’ and wide receiver Tre Harris has been updgraded from ‘questionable’ to ‘probable.’
It’s huge news for Ole Miss, though not wholly unexpected, that Harris would try and give it a go in his home state of Louisiana. He has been critical to the Rebels’ offensive success this season as he leads the FBS in receiving yards with 885 on the season.
After an injury in the first half of last week’s South Carolina game, Harris did not play in the second half against the Gamecocks. He finished the game with three receptions for 81 yards.
“We don’t really get into much detail on that. He didn’t finish the first half and wasn’t close to going back in the second half,” head coach Lane Kiffin said at his Monday press conference.
“He certainly wouldn’t be playing today (Monday), so we have to get the other guys ready and we have to perform better than we did in the second half when we scored three points – now, we only threw one pass in the fourth quarter. That makes us move people in different spots when he’s out, so we’re preparing to do that and preparing to play without him.”

If Harris is good to go, Ole Miss will have its top offensive weapon for the key SEC showdown that could very well go a long way in determining whether either of the two teams make the College Football Playoff.
Last year against LSU, Harris notched eight passes for 153 yards — and scored the game-winning touchdown.
With running back Jones listed as ‘out,’ there is rampant speculation that the Rebels might insert Ulysses Bentley IV in the game at some point. Click HERE to read more on that.
Here is the Friday Availability Report for the Rebels:
