Lane Kiffin’s Thursday Night Reb Talk | Might Ole Miss Have RB Logan Diggs Available this Season?
OXFORD, Miss. — Lane Kiffin made his weekly appearance on Reb Talk with David Kellum Thursday night, and the head coach talked about facing Arkansas, the status of some of the injured Rebels, and what his team will need to do to prevail in Fayetteville.
Kiffin perhaps hinted that fans could potentially see transfer running back Logan Diggs on the field this season. The former LSU player suffered an ACL injury in the Tigers’ bowl game following the 2023 season, subsequently undergoing surgery, and has not played yet this year.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Diggs played two seasons at Notre Dame before transferring to LSU. Last season, he rushed for 653 yards on 119 carries and scored seven touchdowns for the Tigers.
At Reb Talk, Coach Kiffin takes listeners’ and attendees’ questions, and one asked if there is a possibility Diggs might play this year, joining an Ole Miss running backs room that has struggled off and on this season.
“Maybe after the next bye. That would be awesome, to get a big, physical back like him would be great. But still a little bit aways.”

Ole Miss plays Georgia November 9 and then will have the bye week to which Kiffin refers.
Here are other areas Coach Kiffin addressed:
On wide receiver Tre Harris:
“Tre is by far the best receiver in the country, and the statistics show that. Before he got hurt, he was way ahead of everybody. I was proud of how Jaxson played and got the ball to other people and threw for 300 yards against a good defense without his biggest weapon.”
Kiffin did not reveal Harris’ status for Saturday, if he indeed yet knows. In Thursday’s availability report, Harris is listed as questionable for the Arkansas game.
On if Ole Miss will open up the middle of the field as they did against Oklahoma:
“(Oklahoma) struggled with it, and they played a lot of zone and they’re very aggressive against the run…I know everybody thinks, ‘Oh, just throw it in the middle all the time and it will work.’ Doesn’t really work like that. Certain defenses that don’t play man, that play zone where that opens more and not having Tre, we featured two tight ends at the same time more in order to get that package of defense.”
On the Arkansas team:
“I think they didn’t play very well against LSU, but if you take out that game, they could be undefeated. They’ve just played really well and this quarterback is playing really good…They’re really physical on defense and do a good job. This is a really good team, in a place that’s been extremely hard for our program over the years to play at.”
What Ole Miss needs to do against the Hogs:
”Play really clean. Obviously we remember we went down there a couple of years ago and didn’t do that – actually both times. Play really clean on offense…and play good defense. These guys are really good on offense, look what they did last week (Against Mississippi State). We’re going to have to play really good pass defense, not just run defense…(Arkansas Taylen Green’s) really good for a 6-foot-6 player to run like he does. This is a really hard guy to handle.”
