Jaxson Dart discusses Ole Miss’ loss to LSU and the path forward: ‘We’ve got to win out’
OXFORD, Miss. – In a highly competitive SEC matchup, Ole Miss was defeated by LSU last night, 29-26. After the loss, Rebel quarterback Jaxson Dart — visibly upset about the loss — spoke to the media, saying few words and explaining that he’s still having trouble comprehending the loss.
“Yeah, I don’t understand how we lost. Just that first half, like we didn’t put points up and had a whole bunch of momentum, and I’m still trying to think through it.”

Jaxson concluded the game completing 24 of his 42 passes and throwing for 284 yards. The senior also threw one interception and one touchdown to wide receiver Tre Harris. Early in the second half, Harris, the nation’s most-productive wide receiver, suffered a hip injury and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Dart spoke on how the absence of Harris affected the offense.
“It’s tough. It’s taking out the best receiver in the country, so guys got to step up. I thought Cayden (Lee) played really well….I wish I could have thrown the ball, a few throws better and…it was just one more score. It changes the game.“

Throughout the short press conference, the Ole Miss QB just seemed shell-shocked about the loss.
“I don’t understand how we lost. I just never felt like we were going to lose until it happened.”

Breaking down what’s ahead for Ole Miss, the Rebels will have a bye week and return to Vaught-Hemingway on October 26 to host Oklahoma, who is currently unranked after losing this weekend to No. 1 Texas. After Oklahoma, the Rebs will play Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi State to close out the season.
With his team ranked No. 18 in the recent AP poll, Jaxson Dart says there is only one way to get to the playoffs from here.
“We’ve got to win out. So, it’s our only option.“
