Tre Harris talks about his record-breaking night, Jaxson Dart’s preparations during game week
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss improved to 4-0 following Saturday night’s 52-13 win over Georgia Southern, and the Rebels were led by wide receiver Tre Harris who caught 11 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns.
Against the Eagles, Harris notched one 70-yard reception, the longest of his collegiate career. He currently has tallied the most receiving yards in the nation in Power Four with 628, and he is looking to break his career high of 985 receiving yards in 2023.
Harris, however, isn’t worried about specific numbers and individual achievements.
“I just go out there and try and execute the game plan, just try to be the best that I can. That’s really the biggest thing for me. I try to go out there and not worry about who’s in front of me. I just try to play my game and be as dominant as possible. That’s my goal, and that’s been my goal for the entire year.”

Along with Harris, the Heisman campaign for Jaxson Dart continues to be in full effect, as the quarterback threw for 382 yards and four touchdowns with a 71 percent completion rate against Georgia Southern.
Harris talked about Dart’s preparations during game week and how that translates at an efficient level heading into Saturdays.
“He’s super locked in. Every Thursday we go through the script and the openers and things like that, and he gets all the receivers, and we talk about what his thought process is between each single play, and we go through each and every play of what he’s thinking, what he’s reading, how he feels in this play, and what he’s going to be looking at. So for him to have that amount of leadership and that amount of connection with each and every receiver, it’s only going to boost his game even more, and y’all see it for yourselves, his game is elevating each and every week. Super proud of him for being a leader, and I’m ready to continue playing with him.”

Despite the profound success of the offense, Harris admits that from his perspective, things could have gone much smoother in the middle portion of the game.
“We came out pretty hot, but I do feel like we had a sloppy game overall. We had a sloppy game in between the second and third quarters. We had some sloppy plays, and we shot ourselves in the foot a couple of times, so we have to clean up some things. I had some dropped passes that I’m still a little frustrated with right now, so things like that. You have to pay attention to details that we messed up on, and that’s just my perspective looking at the receiver’s room. For the rest of the team, I feel like there’s more for us to do, and I feel like we’re definitely going to reach that next week.“
– Harris on what can be improved for next week
Looking ahead to Saturday, the Rebels will host Kentucky, their first SEC opponent of the year. The Wildcats are coming off of a 41-6 victory over Ohio, moving to 2-2 on the season with losses to South Carolina and Georgia. Even going against a team who has yet to play on the road this season, Harris says the motto of the Rebs will remain what it’s been since week one against Furman.
“We’re trying to be a violent team, first and foremost. An explosive team, a fun team, those are things that our coaches constantly reinforce in the room and constantly tell us: ‘All the fans are here for y’all. They come out there to watch y’all put on a show.’ And that’s something we try to go out and do every single Saturday. All I can do is say that I’m appreciative of all the fans and all of the support that we get, and I hope we get it again for next Saturday.”
