Ole Miss WR Juice Wells joins Finebaum, talks Jaxson Dart, Lane Kiffin, and Rebel football
OXFORD, Miss. – ESPN radio host Paul Finebaum welcomed Ole Miss wide receiver Juice Wells on his show Wednesday afternoon to have the South Carolina transfer break down his time as a Rebel, give his thoughts on Jaxson Dart’s performance this season, and offer his perspective on head coach Lane Kiffin.
When talking about Dart, Wells explained that in addition to being an elite quarterback on the field, the signal caller’s ability to recognize the defense on the sidelines through the updated technology of the game has tremendously benefited the wide receiving corps.
“Not only can he find you, but he talks to you like he’s a coach. Anything he sees and anything he notices, he’s going to come to you on the sideline and let you know, he’s talking to you like a coach. He’s coming to you with the iPad, he just wants to be perfect. A guy like that who holds himself to that type of standard, I definitely want a guy like that as my quarterback, so shout to Dart for sure.”

Dart leads the country in passing yards, throwing for 1,172 in three games. Wide receivers Tre Harris, Cayden Lee, and Wells have all notched at least 10 receptions and averaged approximately 15 yards per catch, proving to be one of the most effective units in the country.

Wells described what it’s been like to play in such a skilled receivers room.
“You know it puts you in a position when you can’t get doubled. You have Tre on one side, J-Wat (Jordan Watkins), Cayden Lee, and when I’m out there, you can’t double us, so it makes it pretty easy on you. It also makes you better, being around a lot of talent is not going to do anything but bring your talent up, so that was really a main thing for me. I wanted to be around a lot of guys who can help bring me up, and I can help them also.”

To wrap up the interview with Finebaum, Wells spoke briefly about his experience playing for his third college head coach in Lane Kiffin.
“He’s a coach that wants to be perfect. He holds everybody around here to a high standard. He’s a pretty chill coach, but when it’s time to play ball and do what we have to do, you can tell he’s really passionate about it also. Coach Kiffin as a person is real cool and laid back, you can talk to him about anything. You see him on Instagram doing videos and stuff like that, so it’s pretty cool, but when it’s game time, you can tell he flips that switch, and it’s time to go.“
