Ole Miss WR Juice Wells Discusses Relationship with Jaxson Dart, Explains Why He Chose the Rebels: ‘I just want to be a part of this amazing culture Coach Kiffin and the team are building’

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss football returned to the field Saturday for the first time this season with several new faces making a name for themselves, one of them being wide receiver Juice Wells.

The senior transferred to Ole Miss from South Carolina over the offseason while being pursued by some of the best programs in the nation. After watching Ole Miss win 11 games, the most in school history, the decision for Wells was simple.

I chose Ole Miss because I felt like Ole Miss was the best team in the SEC, honestly. They have a great chip on their shoulder coming off of a great season, and they did a great job winning. I just want to be a part of this amazing culture Coach Kiffin and the team are building around here.

– Wells on choosing Ole Miss

Despite arriving in Oxford for the spring, Wells was unable to gear up in pads until fall camp due to a foot injury that had lingered with him since last season. After several months of recovery, Wells is finally back on the field at 100%, crediting the Ole Miss training staff for getting him back to full strength.

Oh yeah, I feel great, man. Our training team did a wonderful job making sure I’m back fully healthy, they did a wonderful job with all the other players too, I really appreciate them a lot. They take a lot to their time to invest into us and make sure we’re fully healthy, so shoutout to them for sure.

– Wells on his injury recovery

Fortunately for Wells, even during his recovery phase, he still managed to form an incredible relationship with quarterback Jaxson Dart, who has put in countless hours of work with the wide receivers and even flown out to train in California.

Building that relationship with Dart was amazing. I went out to Cali with him this summer to train with him a lot, he’s a great guy. He’s a great guy to be around. He brings everybody up around him, he does a great job bringing the team together.”

– Wells on his relationship with Dart

It’s safe to say that even after one game, the team building and leadership skills from Dart are paying off as he threw for over 400 yards and five touchdowns in one half. According to Jaxson, his favorite of the touchdowns was his 61-yard pass to Wells in the second quarter to put the Rebs up 14-0.

Juice broke down the play from his perspective.

On that pass, I think he bit on that route going underneath the safety, and I didn’t see anybody down, so I took it up top, and Dart placed a great ball. He made it easy for me to score the touchdown.

– Wells on his first touchdown as a Rebel

Heading into week two, Wells and the team are preparing for Middle Tennessee State, who is 1-0 after defeating Tennessee Tech, 32-25, in their home opener.

Juice spoke on what he’s seen from the film so far.

They look good. They’re coming off of a good win, they play a lot of similar coverages as Furman, so we just have to make sure we focus on the game plan and do a lot of execution offensively, and I feel like we’ll be good.
