Lane Kiffin Gives it Right Back to Paul Finebaum at SEC Media Days: ‘I don’t really know what you’re good at’
DALLAS, Texas – Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin joined the infamous Paul Finebaum for a segment on the SEC Network following the head coach’s time at SEC Media Days this week, and per usual, the two made for some incredible entertainment.
Coach Kiffin and Finebaum have quite a history, dating back to when Lane Kiffin coached at Southern California over a decade ago. Kiffin, who was fired in 2013, said Finebaum did not help the coach’s case after referring to him as the “Miley Cyrus” of college football coaches on College GameDay earlier that day in 2013.
“It is a true story that the athletic director and the president were on that trip,” Kiffin said of that infamous time.
“We were playing that night and you were on ‘College GameDay’ and you had to make your big splash. They were watching it because I know the other person in the room that was watching it with them. And you said what a joke I was, I’m the Miley Cyrus of college football coaching and I should be fired. They looked at each other and later that night, I was fired.”

Kiffin followed up his comments by thanking Finebaum, acknowledging that he would not be where he is today without his departure from USC.
“But hey, look what happened. I would have never have gotten to work with Coach Saban, all these other things wouldn’t have happened, so I appreciate you helping me get fired.“

Finebaum responded to Lane, admitting both he and Miley Cyrus have had impressive careers since his original comment on College GameDay, to where Kiffin took it upon himself to embarrass Finebaum in the conversation.
“I don’t really know what you’re good at. You predicted that Coach Saban was done, that didn’t happen, you basically said Miley Cyrus stinks and she’s still going…”

This fall, Lane will look to continue to prove Finebaum wrong by trying to get his team into the first ever 12-team college football playoffs. For more Ole Miss sports updates, be sure to stay tuned with The Rebel Walk!
