Rebel Legend Eli Manning Hopes to See Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart Break All His Records

OXFORD, Miss. — The Grove Collective, Ole Miss’ NIL group headed by Walker Jones, hosted a sellout crowd Monday night for an evening with former Rebel quarterback Eli Manning and current quarterback Jaxson Dart. Fans enjoyed dinner as well as hearing from both signal callers. Head coach Lane Kiffin even dropped by.

Manning set many records during his tenure from 2000-03 leading the Rebels, and a number of them still stand. But even so, he hopes to watch Dart break as many as he can.

I’m a fan of Ole Miss, I’ve been a fan since I was little…It’s been great watching Coach Kiffin and Coach Weis and the crew in what they’re doing. And Jaxson. I’m rooting for them. I want (Dart) to break – he’s probably broken all my records – I want him to break all of them. I want him to go have a big year and go get that SEC Championship.”

Eli Manning

Manning currently holds the school records for career passing yards (10,119) and touchdown passes (84), and is tied with Matt Corral for most TD passes in a single game (6).

Dart is currently fifth on the career passing yards list with 6,338 yards over two seasons; therefore, he would need 3,782 in 2024 to surpass Manning.

Dart arrived in Oxford via the transfer portal prior to the 2022 season, coming in from the USC Trojans.

I’ve learned from when I first got here. Learned about trailblazers like Eli, like his dad. It’s a great honor to kind of follow in their footsteps…I think him coming back and seeing the support he has around here, just shows how special Ole Miss, Oxford, the community and the program is. When you can make an impact, that lives forever. I think that credits to him and everyone else that’s done it (before). It’s a great honor to be here (at Ole Miss), I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Jaxson Dart

Dart has the opportunity to leave his own lasting legacy at Ole Miss. He’s already led the team to its most number of wins in school history (11) last season.

“I think I’ve grown the most as a person since coming out here. I learned a lot about myself. I’m grateful to be around the people that I am. I’m grateful to be in a community like this and to have this support,” Dart noted.

Dart also has the opportunity to be at the helm for the Rebels and guide them to the Rebels’ first College Football Playoff appearance. Many of the experts have Ole Miss penciled in among the Top 5 treams in the nation for the coming season.
