Ole Miss hosting heavily-pursued South Alabama transfer linebacker Khalil Jacobs
OXFORD, Miss. – South Alabama transfer linebacker Khalil Jacobs is visiting Ole Miss today — even after speculation had arisen that his recruitment was down to Alabama or Auburn.
It’s worth pointing out that Jacob’s former head coach at South Alabama, Kane Wommack, is now the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Alabama. Even given that, he has not committed.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 220 pounds, it’s no surprise why Jacobs is focusing on three major SEC programs to play for in 2024. This past season, Khalil collected 56 total tackles, three sacks, and an interception, all while forcing three fumbles.

When looking at his film, it’s evident that Jacobs is the perfect candidate for a Pete Golding-styled defense. He is efficient when blitzing off the edge and pairs it with strength and overall physicality, similar to Suntarine Perkins. Unlike many other Rebs on this year’s roster, Jacobs also possesses something that makes him even more appealing — and that is two years of eligibility.

Despite having a loaded linebacker room with Pooh Paul Jr., Khari Coleman, TJ Dudley, Suntarine Perkins, Tyler Banks, and others, adding another potential starter to this group is only going to make everyone better.
Jacobs recently told On3 what he hopes to find in his new school.
“I’m looking for a positive environment I can thrive in. I’m dominant on the field, and I want to be a part of a system that will allow me to do so.”
