Ole Miss Baseball’s Ethan Lege Named 2024 Ferriss Trophy Finalist

JACKSON, Miss. – (Release) The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum announced the finalists for the 2024 Ferriss Trophy presented by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and Pearl River Resort and Ole Miss Baseball’s Ethan Lege was named a finalist for the award.

Lege joins Brett Sanchez of Belhaven, Dakota Jordan of Mississippi State, Dalton McIntyre of Southern Miss, and RJ Stinson of William Carey as the five finalists for the award.

Ole Miss is looking to have back-to-back Ferriss Trophy winners for the first time since 2004-05 as Kemp Alderman took home the trophy last year.

Lege leads the Rebels in batting average this season with a .323 in 43 games. He is also second in slugging percentage (.645), on-base percentage (.424), hits (50), home runs (13), and total bases (100).

Lege has been the Rebels’ most clutch hitter, hitting .412 (21-for-51) with two outs in an inning. He has 18 two-out RBI, is hitting .297 with runners in scoring position, and is 8-for-13 when hitting with a runner on third base and less than two outs. He is also the fourth-hardest hitter to strike out in the SEC, striking out just 16 times this season.

Each year the most outstanding player in college baseball in Mississippi is awarded the Ferriss Trophy, named for legendary player and coach Dave “Boo” Ferriss. The finalists for this prestigious award are selected by a panel of coaches and professional scouts. This same panel will now be tasked with selecting this year’s winners.

The five finalists and their coaches will be recognized at a luncheon and program on Monday, May 20th at the Golden Moon Casino. Former Southern Miss Baseball Coach Scott Berry will be the featured speaker for the event. The luncheon is open to the public, but tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are on sale now online at msfame.com or by calling the Hall of Fame offices at 601-982-8264. If you cannot attend in person, the event will be live streamed on the Hall of Fame website.
