UCLA Transfer Christeen Iwuala Commits to Coach Yo and the Rebels
OXFORD, Miss. — Head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin and the Ole Miss women’s basketball team have added another key transfer to the team as Christeen Iwuala from UCLA has committed to play for the Rebels.
Iwuala announced via social media Tuesday afternoon.
“Christeen exemplifies everything I want in a student athlete on my team; tough, physical, smart, charismatic and respectful!” said McPhee-McCuin. “We are grateful to have her here with us and we are committed to helping her blossom on and off the court.”As a sophomore for the Bruins last season, Iwuala made 33 appearances and earned her first-career start against Stanford. She tied her single-game scoring career-high, recording 10 points three times. She also notched new single-game career highs in assists, field goals, and free throws made.

The San Antonio, Texas native averaged 11.7 minutes per game as a sophomore last season for the Bruins, putting up 3.7 points, three rebounds and 0.7 assists per contest. She was a strong presence off the bench for UCLA.
As a freshman for UCLA, Iwuala scored 103 points in her first season, scoring a season-high 10 points against Cal State Fullerton. She totaled 120 rebounds during her first collegiate campaign and was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week once.

Iwuala was part of UCLA’s 2022 recruiting class that was ranked No. 1 in the country.
