The 6-foot-3, 24o-pound Howland was offered by Ole Miss earlier this week. Howland committed to Indiana out of Joliet West High School in Illinois as a three-star recruit who was the 59th-ranked athlete in the nation.
In 2023, Howland notched 75 carries for 354 yards and two touchdowns for the Hoosiers and averaged 4.7 yards per carry.
He played in 11 games for Indiana last season.

Ole Miss finished last season 11-2 overall, 6-2 in the Southeastern Conference. The 11 wins are the best in school history for the Rebels, and they look to continue that success with the advent of the 12-team playoffs this coming season.
With the departure of Quinshon Judkins to Ohio State, the Rebels’ running back room will have returnees Ulysses Bentley IV, sophomore Kedrick Reescano, as well as LSU transfer Logan Diggs, who is recovering from an injury, as the mainstays. But it’s no secret head coach Lane Kiffin and staff would like to pick up one, if not two, backs in the portal.
Reports from Thamel indicate Howland will also visit Oklahoma State, Duke and UCF.
