Ole Miss Pitcher Liam Doyle Continues to be Key Contributor for Diamond Rebs, Will Take the Mound in Game Two vs. Vols
Liam Doyle will take the mound for the Rebels today as Ole Miss looks to rebound in game two against Tennessee in Knoxville. The Rebels fell to Tennessee, 15-3, Friday night.
Ole Miss fans were introduced to the southpaw after he threw 3.1 innings against Morehead State while striking out eight hitters and only allowing one run. Then, he continued his strong performance last weekend against South Carolina when he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three earned runs, walking one, and striking out 10 batters.

Looking at his stats from this season, Doyle has collected 27 strikeouts in just 13.2 innings while allowing only four walks. Despite finding much success this spring, Liam said he had to make several adjustments to do so after this fall.
“I didn’t deserve it (to start) in the fall. I didn’t pitch my best, but I came here in the spring and started working on stuff with Laff (Coach Lafferty). I started finding myself with the fastball in the zone, getting ahead of hitters, and getting where I need to be now.“

Transferring from Coastal Carolina, Liam brings an abundance of experience with him to the mound. As a true freshman, Doyle pitched 56.1 innings, appeared in 23 different games, and started seven of them.
Even before he arrived at Coastal, Liam was ranked as the No. 1 pitching prospect in the state of New Hampshire (Perfect Game) and a top 500 prospect nationally.
Doyle features a 90-94 mph fastball, a lethal breaking ball that comes in at 79-80 mph, and a changeup. Following the win against South Carolina, Coach Bianco offered his thoughts on Doyle’s impressive outing.
“Terrific. 10 punch outs and 5.1 innings in your first SEC start, pretty impressive.“
