OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss football began spring practices this week. The Rebels will take off for spring break next week and resume Tuesday, March 19.

Spring practices will culminate with the annual Grove Bowl spring game on April 13.

The Rebels are widely projected to be a top 5 team in 2024 and are expected to make the 12-team college football playoffs.

In his post-practice press conference Wednesday, head coach Lane Kiffin discussed the strength of this year’s roster.

“I think, just because you do have the first year here really where you have this combination of influx of talent plus a lot of really good returners, I don’t think we’ve really had that,” Kiffin explained. “So there’s not a lot of holes to replace,” he added.

Normally you’ve got between the NFL draft, senior eligibility and the people leaving in the portal, you have a lot of starters to replace and a lot of significant players to replace. We don’t have that. There’s only a few combined between the NFL. What we had I think only three guys go to the combine, DeCam (Decamerion Richardson) makes four guys go to the combine, and then really basically losing Q in the portal as the only significant player. So that’s not a lot of spots to fill. So yeah, there was excitement out there. Again, it looks really good as a roster, but we have a lot of work to do.
