The news is somewhat of a surprise as Ole Miss quite possibly could begin 2024 as a top-10 team, if not top-5, with a very real chance to play for the SEC title and make a run in the 12-team playoff.
The Pike Road, Alabama native had a breakout freshman season in 2022 with 274 carries for 1,567 yards and 16 rushing TDs, earning All-SEC honors. In 2023, he rushed 271 times for 1,158 yards and 15 TDs, becoming the first SEC rusher since Herschel Walker to rush for at least 15 TDs in the first two seasons.
Keep in mind, even if one enters the portal, that does not mean he has to leave. If the school allows him to stay, which Ole Miss surely would in this case, that is always a possibility. We will keep you posted as updates happen!
