Ole Miss gets commitment from North Carolina transfer left tackle Diego Pounds
OXFORD, Miss. — The Rebels are again proving their mettle in the transfer portal as North Carolina transfer offensive lineman Diego Pounds has committed to Ole Miss. The left tackle will be a redshirt junior and have two years of eligibility remaining after seeing action in all 13 games for the Tar Heels this past season. This is a huge addition for Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-6, 330-pound Pounds was listed as the team’s backup left tackle for the Tar Heels’ season opener against South Carolina, but he moved in to the starting lineup against Appalachian State during Week 2. He played every offensive snap in that game and ultimately totaled eight starts on the season.
Pounds is the third-ranked offensive tackle in the transfer portal and can play both tackle positions. He will have a chance to be a day-one starter for the Rebs in 2024.
The North Carolina native attended Millbrook High School where he was rated as a three-star offensive tackle. Besides North Carolina, Pounds received offers from Alabama, LSU, Oregon, and Miami.
“He’s huge, he’s got great feet, he’s smart,” North Carolina head coach Mack Brown said about Pounds back in August.
Despite John Garrison and the Rebs landing another stud lineman, their work in the trenches is far from over. Ole Miss is still in the hunt for the following portal prospects: offensive lineman Percy Lewis (Mississippi State) and offensive lineman Lance Heard (LSU).
