After running back Quinshon Judkins announced his entrance into the transfer portal last Friday, it made Bentley’s return even more important. While the SMU transfer has an extra year of eligibility remaining due to COVID, it had not been clear if he would exercise it or not.
Now that Bentley is definitely coming back, it greatly helps the Rebels’ running backs room that will also return former four-star freshman Kedrick Reescano. Former Oregon State running back Jam Griffin who had transferred to Oxford last season has now entered the portal and is likely to return to Oregon State.
There are also rumors that Judkins may seek a return to Ole Miss; although, those have not been confirmed by the football program. But there is enough “smoke” there to give one pause to consider that might be in play.
As for Bentley, he has amassed 2,000 career rushing yards in his time with SMU and Ole Miss. At SMU, Bentley rushed for 913 yards in 2020 and 610 yards in 2021. In 2023, he was a key piece of the Ole Miss ground game, rushing for 540 yards and four TDs en route to a whopping 5.7 yards per carry average as his career yardage now sits at 2,172 rushing yards.

Bentley’s steady and electric presence will be a huge bonus for a Rebel team looking to go all-in on making the 12-team playoffs in 2024.
