Ole Miss men’s basketball enters the AP Top 25 rankings

OXFORD, Miss. — After a 10-0 start, Ole Miss men’s basketball is now officially ranked in the AP Top 25, coming in at No. 25 this week. The Rebels join Houston, Oklahoma and James Madison as the only undefeated men’s teams in Division I.

In fact, Ole Miss, James Madison and Oklahoma are the only three schools who have a 10-win football team and an undefeated men’s basketball team for the 2023 season.

There are three SEC teams in the AP Top 25:  8) Tennessee, 9) Kentucky, and 25) Ole Miss.

The Rebels are coming off an 88-78 win over Cal Saturday. Ole Miss was hot offensively, shooting 52.5 percent from the floor en route to a season-high 88 points. Jaemyn Brakefield led the way with a career-high 27, Matthew Murrell was next with 19, and Jaylen Murray (14), Allen Flanigan (12) and TJ Caldwell (11) joined them in double figures. Also of note: Georgetown transfer Brandon Murray hit a 3-pointer and chipped in four assists in his Rebel debut.
