Ole Miss DL Jared Ivey announces his plans to return to the Rebels for 2024
OXFORD, Miss. — Tuesday afternoon, Ole Miss football received more good news as Suwanee, Georgia native and Rebel defensive end Jared Ivey announced he will be returning to the ‘Red and Blue’ for the 2024 season and not declaring for the NFL draft.
One more year
Following the 2021 college football season, Ivey announced he was transferring to Ole Miss after two seasons with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Fast-forward two years later and, yet again, Ivey makes another huge decision by deciding to use his additional year of eligibility, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and return to Oxford.
Ivey announced his return earlier today via ‘X’, the platform formerly known as Twitter. The defensive end captioned “Run it back.” to a graphic saying he is staying home. This comes shortly after Lane Kiffin announced that he had already spoken with all his players on their decisions for 2024.

The return of Ivey could prove to be huge for a Rebel defensive line that showed an extremely high ceiling at times throughout the regular season. The Ole Miss defense tallied 34 sacks in 2023, with Ivey claiming five-and-a-half of those to tie for the team lead.
With all the young defensive line talent currently committed from the class of 2024, the 2024 transfer portal class and the return of Ivey among others, next season’s Rebel defense is looking to make more strides in year two of defensive coordinator Pete Golding.
I’m sure all Rebel fans are excited for a third year of seeing Jared Ivey in the trenches and more plays like the “thick-six.”

What’s next?
Ivey and the rest of his 2023 Rebel teammates will continue to prepare for the upcoming Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. Just 33 miles away from his hometown of Suwanee, expect to see him well-represented on December 30th in Atlanta. Hotty Toddy!
