Ole Miss’ Caden Prieskorn and Jared Ivey earn Peach Bowl Offensive, Defensive MVP Honors

ATLANTA — Ole Miss has officially earned its 11th win of the season, the winningest season in Rebel history. After defeating Penn State 38-35, Caden Prieskorn and Jared Ivey were named the offensive and defensive Most Valuable Players of the game. Prieskorn, the Ole Miss tight end, caught for 136 yards and two touchdowns, the most of any receiver on the field today.

Despite catching for over 600 yards at Memphis last year, the senior transfer set himself a personal record today. This was the second game in his career where he notched over 100 yards and the first where he caught for 136.

The veteran had this to say following his dominant performance:

I’m definitely an older guy that’s played a lot of college football, so I feel like my teammates trust me, trust what I say, and what I do. I felt like today it showed just on the field and helping guys get set and stuff like that. I’m just thankful that they believe in me as well.

In Jared Ivey’s impressive performance, the defensive lineman showed off all sorts of versatility against a skilled Penn State offense.

Ivey finished his day with five total tackles, including two tackles for loss and two pass deflections. Similarly to Prieskorn, Ivey also transferred to Ole Miss from another Division I school in Georgia Tech. Jared explained how the culture that was established in Oxford has allowed him to be so successful as a transfer.

I think it speaks to the culture the guys had already when we got here and how they took us in and kind of showed us how things were supposed to be and how the coaches wanted things aligned. Yeah, just very thankful for Coach Joyner and Coach Kiffin just showing us the ropes and making us feel at home day one.”

Prieskorn, who just finished his first year as a Reb, echoed Ivey’s sentiments.

“Yeah, I just think with the people that they already had here, a lot of the older guys, like on O-line and quarterback, and some of the defensive players, they had a lot of structure, and they kind of brought us in using the portal. I feel like we brought a lot of older guys that wanted to come in and just compete and just test how Power 5 football is like. Kind of just showed up throughout the season, and we came together as a whole,” Prieskorn said.

Although these players earned MVP honors for the game, there still remains unfinished business in their college careers. Ivey and Prieskorn announced earlier in December that they would be returning to Ole Miss in 2024 to use their final year of eligibility.

As said on ESPN’s college gameday, there is no reason that the Rebs are not a top-five team heading into next year with the returning talent along with the No. 1 transfer portal class that is headed to the ‘Sip. Rebel fans, enjoy the win and stay tuned to The Rebel Walk for more. Hotty Toddy!
