The Jacksonville, Florida native recorded 66 tackles throughout his career at Illinois.
During his time at Illinois, Taz was a two-time All-Academic Big 10 recipient as well as the team’s Howard Griffith Impact Player in 2022.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Nicholson will bring physicality, leadership, and Power Five experience to a position that always needs depth. As it stands, Daijahn Anthony, Zamari Walton, DeShawn Gaddie, and Deantre Prince have all run out of eligibility, creating quite a few holes in the secondary. The addition of Taz Nicholson is certainly a positive start for Golding and his staff.
