A Visit with Ole Miss 4-Star Safety Commit Travaris Banks: ‘I just felt like home at Ole Miss’
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss commit Travaris Banks is one of the most gifted safeties in the 2024 class, and The Rebel Walk had the chance to visit with him recently about his choice to play for the Rebels.
Banks plays for the Hillcrest High School Patriots of Tuscaloosa, a team currently undefeated and focused on winning the Alabama State playoffs.
In 2023, Banks has seen his time on the field as both a defensive back and as running back. When asked if he thinks being a part of such a talented program will further prepare him for college, Bank’s answer was simple.
“Yes, because it isn’t anything but competitive nature because I compete all day, every day. It’s just going to translate to college,” Banks said.
Between 247 Sports, On3, Rivals, and ESPN, Banks is a top 250 prospect and the 18th-best safety in the country. The four-star has an athletic frame, standing at 6’1.5 and weighing 195 pounds.
Leading up to Banks’ decision, there was a lot of speculation about his connection with Mississippi State; however, on June 18, Banks made it official that he was locked in with Ole Miss.

“I just felt like home at Ole Miss.”
Travaris Banks on his decision to attend Ole Miss
Since his commitment, Banks recently visited Oxford in late September for the thrilling win over LSU. As Rebel fans know, Travaris was able to witness the most entertaining win of the season, which was capped off with the student section storming the field.
“That was probably the biggest game I’ve been to all year. They rushed the field, the crowd was in it the whole game, and it was just fun.”

As football season begins to wind down, the work for Banks is just getting started. He decided he would enroll early at Ole Miss in the winter and is seeking to play as quickly as possible. When I asked Travaris why he chose to graduate early, he was quick to the point in his response.
“I want to be at Ole Miss and on the field as soon as I can.”

Prior to his arrival on campus in Oxford, however, Banks will be busy playing more football. He was selected for the prestigious Mississippi/Alabama All-Star game to be held December 16.

He has also been chosen for the Under Armour All-American game on January 3, 2024. Travaris will be up against some of the nation’s best talent and will have a fantastic opportunity to showcase his abilities before he gets to Oxford. He is grateful for that recognition.

“It’s a blessing. There is a lot of competition down there, so it will probably get me more ready for college,” Banks said.
