Notes from Tuesday’s Ole Miss Football Practice | Updates on Tre Harris, Zakhari Franklin and Caden Prieskorn

OXFORD, Miss. — We were back at Ole Miss football practice inside the Manning Center Tuesday and can report on a few items of note. Keep in mind, we’re only able to view the initial periods of practice, but we can tell you what we saw.

During Lane Kiffin’s opening statement at his Monday press conference, the Rebels’ head coach mentioned that wide receiver Zakhari Franklin and tight end Caden Prieskorn, both of whom have been injured and yet to play this season, were “out there” at practice Monday.

It’s good that we looked a little better health-wise out there today. Good to get Tre [Harris] out there and [Caden] Prieskorn out there. I’m sure Jaxson [Dart] feels good about that.

We weren’t sure to what extent the two were “out there,” but after Tuesday’s practice we have a little bit clearer picture.

Franklin: Franklin, for the first time we have seen, was no longer wearing the black non-contact jersey at practice. When he had knee surgery at the beginning of August, reports indicated the UTSA transfer would be out four to six weeks. Six weeks have now elapsed, so there is hope he is getting closer to making his debut. He participated in the team walkthroughs Tuesday, so optimism is increasing for his return in the very near future.

Prieskorn: All throughout fall camp until his toe injury, Memphis transfer Prieskorn looked very strong and appeared to be a key part of the Rebels’ offense. On Tuesday, he was wearing the non-contact jersey; however, he repped a good bit with the first-team skill players and looked to our eyes to be doing well. It is very possible he’s also getting close to a return, hopefully this Saturday against Alabama.

Harris: Wide receiver Tre Harris has eight catches this season, five of which have been touchdowns. He missed most of the Tulane game after a first half injury and did not play against Georgia Tech. He was dressed out in full pads Tuesday but was wearing the black non-contact jersey and did not participate in any drills while we were there. He continues to wear a soft brace on that left knee.

Wearing the non-contact jersey were: Jalen Knox, Tre Harris, Caden Prieskorn, Ashanti Cistrunk, Ladarius Tennison, and Jeremiah Dillon. Cistrunk and Tennison were participating in non-contact drills.

Ole Miss and Alabama kick off at 2:30 p.m. (CT) in Tuscaloosa Saturday. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
