Rebels Crack Top 25 in Preseason Coaches Poll
OXFORD, Miss. – The 2023 college football season is less than 30 days away, and that means the Preseason Coaches Poll has officially been released. Ole Miss has been getting a decent amount of hype entering this season, and the coaches agree, as the Rebels broke into the ranking at No. 22.
The poll features four of Ole Miss’ 2023 opponents. Georgia and Alabama coming in at No. 1 and No. 3 respectively is no surprise. Texas A&M also squeaked into the poll at No. 25.
But perhaps the most interesting team in the poll for Rebel fans is Tulane, sitting right behind Ole Miss at No. 23. The Rebels face the Green Wave on September 9th in New Orleans, La.
The last time Ole Miss faced Tulane, Matt Corral led the 2021 squad to a 40-point victory, 61-21.
But that Tulane team finished 2021 with a 2-10 record. 2022’s Green Wave flipped the script, finishing 12-2, including winning a 46-45 thriller over USC in the Cotton Bowl.
The Rebels have a brutal schedule in 2023, including being the only SEC team to have to play on the road at both Georgia and Alabama. And while it will be all too easy to look ahead to that all-important SEC play, Tulane cannot be overlooked, and will certainly be bringing everything they have to pull the upset and get revenge on the 2021 beatdown they took at the hands of the Rebels.
