Arkansas State transfer pitcher Kyler Carmack commits to Ole Miss
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss baseball received a commit Friday from Arkansas State pitcher Kyler Carmack, as announced via his social media.
I would like to start by saying thank you to Astate academics and baseball for the opportunities given to me over the last couple of years. After entering the portal, I have decided to transfer to Ole Miss to further my education and baseball career. #GoRebs 🔴🔵 pic.twitter.com/tgIMlw5Wxo

The 6-foot-2 Cabot, Arkansas native enjoyed a very strong season in his first collegiate campaign this past season as a redshirt freshman, going 5-3 in 12 starts and finishing ranked second in the Sun Belt conference with a 3.23 ERA.
In 69.2 innings of work, Carmack struck out 60 batters and walked 37. He also ranked top 10 in the league in opponent’s batting average (.242).
Carmack also had 24 at-bats this past season (.250 batting average). In the 2021 class, Carmack was ranked No. 17 in his home state of Arkansas.
Of Carmack, analyst Joe Doyle writes:
“Carmack has seen a meteoric rise in pure stuff since his high school days and now represents one of the hardest throwing college arms in the 2024 class, and he’s got the secondaries to go along with it.”

The right-handed pitcher went 6-plus innings in five of his starts this past season, tallying a season-high 7 strikeouts against Old Dominion.
Just 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Carmack isn’t the most imposing physical presence, but his arm speed and explosive athleticism on the mound really stands out.
Doyle continues:
“His changeup is the go-to weapon with huge fade and enormous depth into righties, diving away from lefty bats. It’s mostly 82-85 and represents a potential plus pitch moving forward. He’ll throw it at-will to righties too, and they’ve whiffed on the pitch on more than half of their swings. Righties and lefties both chase the pitch at a highly effective mark. There’s a slider and a curveball here too, though command is presently, an issue. He does possess strong spin rates on both pitches, and there’s a good deal of sweep on both as well.”

Jumping to 2024 a bit, Arkansas State RHP Kyler Carmack has one hell of a freaking changeup. Kid running a 44% Whiff% and 33% Chase% on it. He'll throw it to RHH & LHH. Diabolical pitch. Massive depth and dart. Airbender. He's up to 96 too. Some effort. Real interesting follow. pic.twitter.com/lSKmnWadsK

Carmack is the second transfer portal commit for the Rebels as Mercer’s Treyson Hughes, a three-time All-SoCon honoree, committed earlier this week.
